Mr. Teddy Kernizan
Vocal Music Teacher

Since September 2014, Mr. Kernizan has been the Choral Director of the Ocean Township Chamber Choir, Ocean Choir, and the Spartan Singers at Ocean Township High School (OTHS) in Oakhurst, New Jersey. In 2017 in Virginia at an adjudicated competition the Ocean Choir earned a 3rd place trophy and silver medal, while the Chamber Choir earned a 2nd place trophy and silver medal under Mr. Kernizan's direction.

Kernizan is also involved in the New Jersey All-Shore Choir and had three students make it into the competitive choir in the fall of 2018. In addition to his choral directing duties, Kernizan teaches students, grades 9 – 12 in Music I (guitar, keyboarding and theory elective) and Advanced Placement Music Theory. Additionally, Kernizan is the Music Director for the Spartan Player’s spring musicals, for Ocean Township he has music directed Addams Family (2015), Pippin (2016), Anything Goes (2017), Bye, Bye Birdie (2018), and Spelling Bee (2019).

Outside of Ocean Kernizan plays keyboard, and directs shows for other local high schools and community theaters. Mr. Kernizan received his Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from the world renowned Westminster Choir College of Rider University, and his Masters of Music in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from Catholic University.
