Ms. Valerie DeCotis
Art Teacher

Valerie DeCotis teaches 2D Art, 3D Art, Intermediate Art, and Portfolio Development at Ocean Township High School. She graduated from the College of New Jersey and dedicated nine years to a career as a commercial interior designer. Ms. DeCotis brought her real world connection into the classroom in 2001 and received her teacher certification by completing the New Jersey Department of Education Alternate Route Provisional Teacher Program. Valerie received her Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction in 2017.   Her resume includes experience in teaching and supporting student artists ranging from fourth to twelfth grade. 

Ms. DeCotis began her career at Ocean Township Intermediate School teaching Seventh Grade Art Appreciation (2001-2002).  She moved to the district of Tinton Falls (2002-2006) and was the Art Educator and Art Club Advisor at Swimming River School, fourth through sixth grade; and a portion of her time teaching Seventh and Eighth Grade Art at Tinton Falls Middle School (2005-2006).  Her career followed her back to Ocean Township School District as an art educator at the Intermediate School, Sixth Grade Art ( 2006-2016 ), Ocean Township High School (2017-present) ninth through twelfth grade Studio Art, and as the Intermediate School Art Club Advisor (2013-present).

Valerie continues her career as one of the Ocean Township High School Spartan School of Visual Arts educators.  Her joint corporate and educational experience prepares Ocean Township High School students to become successful and productive individuals in the 21st century workplace.
